Writing Your Thesis at Our Professorship

If you are interested in writing your thesis at our chair, please read the information below on our requirements and application process.

Thesis Format

• Bachelor’s theses: We supervise literature reviews only.
• Master’s theses: These must be empirical. In your proposal, please specify what data you plan to collect and how you intend to analyse it.

Requirements

Take a look at our team profiles and consider how your research interests connect to their work. In your application, please name a first and second preference and briefly explain your choices. We will do our best to match you with your first choice, subject to availability.

How to Apply

Please prepare a one-page proposal that includes:

• your research interest and motivation
• your research question(s)
• for master’s theses: the data you plan to collect and how you will analyse it
• your first- and second-choice supervisors, with a brief explanation
• your preferred start date

Send your proposal, together with your CV and a list of completed courses, to Paul Vilchez (P.Vilchez@campus.lmu.de).

Application Deadlines

We accept applications four times a year, with deadlines on 1 March, 1 June, 1 September and 1 December. Within two weeks of each deadline, we will let you know whether we can offer supervision and, if so, which supervisor you have been assigned. Your preferred start date should fall before the next application deadline. For example, if you apply by 1 December, you should plan to start before 1 March.
